It takes a lot of skill, know how and the best materials to make a reborn doll look as life like as possible. The more life like and rare a doll is the more it is worth. With dolls going for as much as $5000 it's no surprise that artists are putting a ton of work and ingenuity into their creations.
The skin pigment is the first and most important aspect of a reborn doll when it comes to realism. The artist takes the orangish factory pigment off with chemicals and makes sure the base is uniform. After a thorough cleaning the artist begins to apply Genesis heat paints.
The paint is applied in multiple layers and baked in with heat in between. This system allows for minute details to be added between layers like dimples or even veins.
Watch for our next post on other key aspects to making a reborn doll look real.
